Prenatal visits are encouraged during the developmental stages of your baby. We take the time to address your physical and emotional needs to ensure that your prenatal experience is one that you'll enjoy. Services during your visit can include urine assessments, blood pressure testing, nutritional counseling, and fetal heart measurements.
We currently offer birth services in the comfort of your own home. We suggest that you contact us as soon as you've gone into labor. There you will experience the freedom to move around as needed, eat what you'd like when you'd like, and relax in whatever way feels good for your body. The combination of support and comfort from your family and our team is beneficial in facilitating your birth.
To ensure that you receive the best possible care for you and your newborn baby, our team will stay in close contact with you after your birth to provide support, physical exams, assist with breastfeeding, and answer any questions you may have. All of these services can be provided to you in the comfort of your home within the first week of birth. We also see both you and your baby back at the clinic at 2 & 6 weeks Our goal is to stay connected with you for a healthy development and we are here for you every step of the way!
Midwife Kris (Kristine) Devens is a CPM (certified professional midwife) and LM (Minnesota Licensed Midwife) with 13 years of experience serving families through the prenatal, birth and postpartum journey. As a mother herself, she knows just how sacred this time in your life is!
Kris studied midwifery under the talented Ruth Wingeier, CNM for 3 years prior to licensing. Kris and Ruth worked together until Ruth's retirement at the end of 2019. Ruth then passed the baton over to Kris, entrusting all her precious families over to her.
Kris is also an EMT (emergency medical technician) and has obtained her CLC certification (Certified Lactation Consultant). She is passionate about helping those that desire to breastfeed and overcoming the obstacles that can stand in the way of a successful breastfeeding relationship.
Kris lives in Sauk Centre MN with her husband, Tal, and children.
In her spare time you can find her with her family, running calls with the local ambulance service, or staying up-to-date on all things pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding or newborn related!
We have multiple Birth Assistants that help both in the clinic and at your birth. They have each gone through extensive training and are really the best of the best! We are so blessed to have a well-rounded team!
